Laird began his career as a professional musician after graduating from Lake Oswego High School in 1978, has performed hundreds of school concerts through the Young Audiences of Oregon, and has played with a wide variety of local bands. He received a Bachelor of Music degree in Composition from Marylhurst University in 1984 and has been a church music director ever since.
Laird has continued to write music for a wide variety of vocal and instrumental groups, and has several published arrangements. His gospel jazz arrangements have been performed across America and around the world including Wales, Finland, Russia, Japan, Australia, Guatemala, and Brazil.
Laird’s greatest passion is helping musicians develop their talents for God’s glory. He is excited when young music students develop their musical abilities, and when adults dedicate hours of volunteer time for music ministry.
Laird is a native Oregonian, living in the Portland metropolitan area all his life. He and his wife Leanne and son Logan currently live in Beaverton. In his spare time he enjoys walking, reading, and playing video games.
