Pastor Ron & Cheryll Cochran

Pastor Ron & Cheryll Cochran's Retirement

    Posted Jul 11th, 2018

Ron and Cheryll Cochran joined the Portland Christian Center Staff as Worship Pastors in February, 1988. They had previously served at Willamette Christian Center in Eugene as Worship Pastors for 15 years. During their time at Portland Christian Center they developed a complete graded choir program for all ages involving hundreds of kids each week.  They also increased participation in the adult choir to include more than 125 committed members, and the worship orchestra to include more than 50 talented instrumental musicians.

In December of 1988, they launched Portland’s Christmas Celebration, a tradition that continues today. Over 300,000 people have attended this event over the past 30 years. Pastor Ron and Cheryll also created the Portland Pasion Play in 1989. Over 100,000 people attended this Easter event over a period of 17 years. Many thousands of people came to Christ as a result of these two main outreach events.

In addition to serving as Worship Pastor, Pastor Ron also served as the Executive Pastor. He gave oversight to Pastoral Staff and church finances. He helped lead several building campaigns, which included funding for new parking areas, new gymnasium, new educational buildings, new offices, new youth center, new chapel, and new choir room. He also served on the church finance team.

Pastor Ron and Cheryll’s passion throughout their ministry has been worship. Their number one goal every week was to have the congregation of Portland Christian Center experience the presence of God in every service. Their desire was for people’s lives to be encouraged and transformed as beautiful God-centered music filled the Sanctuary.

Join us on Sunday, July 22 for a sermon by Pastor Ron and a reception in Pastor Ron & Cheryll's honor immediately after the 10:30 AM Celebration Service. Please bring a card of appreciation for the occasion.
