Royal Family Kids Camp

The greatest feeling in the world is to see a smile spread over the face of a lonely, wounded child!

That is what Royal Family Kids' Camp is all about, making positive, happy memories. The Royal Family Kids' Camps program is designed to include several specific and highly beneficial aspects which help hurting kids heal. The format and activities of the week at camp are designed to meet the special needs of children who have been absorbed into the foster care system or who have been recently returned to their home under state supervision.

The Children

Each camper has his/her own counselor which allows each child to thrive under the constant attention of a trusted adult, something most have never experienced.

The Camp

The beautiful camp site is located in Silverton, Oregon and allows the children to escape from the urban area where most have spent their entire lives and enjoy a natural setting where they can swim, fish, boat, hike and horseback ride.

Activities

Activities are designed to build self-esteem and provide a chance for success allowing each child to feel good about themselves. Engaging in activities like crafts, dress-up, drama, woodshop and games help these children feel like "normal" Kids.

Foster children are especially vulnerable to picking up habits, values and behavior tips from the wrong places and people. Our faith-based life skills curriculum provides character training for vulnerable children by demonstrating good choices, core values and introducing successful role models to them.

The week also includes "Everybody's Birthday Party". For many of our foster kids, their party at camp is their first-ever birthday party. They receive their own birthday gifts, cake, songs and more!

Memory Bags are Royal Family Kids' Camp's signature duffel bags packed with souvenirs and memorabilia from camp, including a photo album packed with pictures of them at camp. It is a treasure of happy memories that the children cherish for years. For some, it is the only record they will have of their childhood.

Portland Christian Center began their camp ten years ago. Since that time over 500 children and families have received camperships or mentoring through RFKC.
