Each team has one practice per week and one game on Saturday.

Upward 2009 Frequently Asked Questions
Q: When does practice start?
A: Practices begin the week of January 4, 2010. Practice nights are TBD. Practices will be once each week (in the evening) for one hour throughout the season.
Q: When is the first game?
A: Saturday, January 16, 2010. Games are played for one hour every Saturday through March 6, 2010. Game times are TBD and will depend on how many teams are in our league. I anticipate that games will start anywhere between 8:00AM and 6:00 PM.
Q: What gyms will we be playing in this year?
A: We have three gyms this year – the gyms at Portland First Church of the Nazarene, Valley Community Presbyterian Church and Portland Christian Center. Your player may play at any/all of these gyms.
Q: When will the season end?
A: The last game is Saturday, March 6, 2010. Season Celebration will be Tuesday, March 9, 2010.
Q: Are teams co-ed?
A: No, boys and girls play on separate teams and do not play against each other.
Q: What is the basket height?
A: 7’ for K, 8’ for Boys 1 and Girls 1-2, 8.5’ for Boys 2, 9’ for Boys 3 and Girls 3-4, 10’ for Boys 4, Girls 5-6 and Boys 5-6.
Q: What is Upward’s motto?
A: “Every Kid is a Winner”. To make sure that our kids are all winners we will do the following:
- Introduce every kid before every game, complete with music, tunnel and fog machine.
- Make sure every kid receives the same amount of playing time.
- Match kids against other kids of comparable skill/experience in game situations.
- Use adult referees.
- Give every kid an award after every game.
