General Helps

    The Bible Gateway is a tool for reading and researching scripture online -- all in the language or translation of your choice! It provides advanced searching capabilities, which allow readers to find and compare particular passages in scripture based on keywords, phrases, or scripture reference. This site is one of Pastor Ray's favorites!
  • About the Bible
    Quick facts about the Bible. Learn about each of the 66 books of the Bible. The Bible is an historic record of real things, real people, and real places. This is a great site for general information about the Bible.
  • Women of the Bible Encyclopedia
    The Bible is an historic record of real people and places. The Bible includes the names of 188 women. Learn who's who, their relationships, and the meaning of their names.
  • Women In The Bible:  You can download anything for church or school use.
    Written by Elizabeth Fletcher, this site focuses on: Who were these women? What were their stories? What did they think, do, and feel? This site does a great job giving a "human" perspective on the lives of women in the Bible.
  • Men of the Bible
    The Bible is an historic record of real people and places. The Bible includes the names of 1,181 men. Learn who's who, their relationships, and the meaning of their names.

    Not sure what something means? Look here for a quick look at various acronyms, words, places, and people.  This is a great source to get quick information. The site is organized really well.

Maps and Places:

  • Bible Atlas
    A free Bible Atlas created with Google Maps. Over 500 location and some events descriptions of Old and New Testaments.
  • Freeware Bible Class Atlas
    This atlas is a PowerPoint presentation of over 55 Bible maps and diagrams (new 2003 version). Many are based on NASA satellite photos. Over 200,000 copies of this free Bible Atlas have been distributed. You can download the BIBLE CLASS ATLAS PowerPoint slide show or if you don't have PowerPoint can view the images in the online version. Teaching a class or small group? This site can really help you give perspective of when and where!

Word Study

  • Strong's Concordance with Hebrew and Greek Lexicon
    Strong's Lexicon (FULL Search by Strong's word number [e.g. 3091 Hebrew] OR English word!) Hebrew Greek. Condensed Brown-Driver-Briggs Hebrew Lexicon.  Great site, especially if you have Strong's word number!

Commentaries

Looking for different perspectives on the same passage.  Sometimes it helps to read several commentaries to get the deep meaning of a passage of scripture.


History Helps
