ADULTS

MAIN GATHERING

Accepting NO Substitutes-A Study in the Book of Hebrews

7:00-8:30 PM in the Chapel

By A.D. 64, Christianity had spread throughout the world. But Jews, who accepted Jesus, as Messiah were struggling, emotionally, physically and economically. They had become outcasts, lost property and suffered persecution by those who rejected Jesus. Some, considering Jesus, were having second thoughts after weighing the costs. Others attempted compromise, to appease Jewish authorities, and still others did not understand Jesus in contrast to Mosaic law. The purpose of the Epistle to the Hebrews was to encourage these groups of Jewish believers and seekers, to continue in their walk and to persevere in their quest.

Sound like some encouragement you could use too? That is what is so practical about God’s word. We will take an indepth study of the Book of Hebrews beginning Wednesdays, January 4th with Pastor Joel Slater. Room: Chapel

MAKING OF A MENTOR

6:00-6:50 PM in Room 228

Jesus ministered to the multitudes, counseled the questioning, and purposefully invested His life in a few. He concentrated His life in a handful of followers because Jesus' prize was not information, it was impartation. The power of Jesus' mentoring was neither programs nor paper: it was life. Jesus made disciples shoulder-to-shoulder.
In this workshop we will:

  • study the substance of Jesus' model of mentoring
  • distinguish between healthy and unhealthy motivations and methods of mentoring
  • seek to apply His principles to our twenty-first century lives.

This Equipping Class will help men and women become and/or improve as mentors. There is no fee for this class.

LADIES' BIBLE STUDY

"James: Mercy Triumphs"

7:00-8:30 PM in Room 228
James, Jesus' own brother, started out as a skeptic. See how one glimpse of the resurrected Savior turned an unbeliever into a disciple. Bible scholars compare James to the prophet Amos. In other ways, James more closely resembles the Book of Proverbs than any other New Testament book. Topics in this study include: joy, hardship, faith, reversal of fortunes for rich and poor, wisdom, gifts from above, single-mindedness, the dangers of the tongue, humility, and prayer.“ The books ($25/ea) will be available for sale in the lobby on Sunday, December 18th & Sunday, January 8th as well as in the church office during the week.

MEN'S BIBLE STUDY

"Men of the Bible"

7:00-8:30 PM in Room 221
This foundational Bible study will introduce you to men in the Bible who experienced the same thoughts and desires as you do. Through 21 life-changing lessons you'll learn about anger, sex, the role of a father, attitudes toward work and money, friends, priorities, responsibilities of a husband, prayer, discipling, traits of a good leader, and more.

FINANCIAL PEACE UNIVERSITY

7:00-8:30 PM in the Hospitality Center
Financial Peace University (FPU) consists of a 13-week video curriculum—taught by financial expert Dave Ramsey—that incorporates small-group discussions to encourage accountability and discipleship.
